Getting Your Groove Back
On a recent bout of “losing my groove”, I think I just stumbled upon it. Have you ever been in a rut? Or just had the blahs? What can we do to get the good feeling back?
After having at least 5 arguments with various people on Monday, I knew I had to do something. I started my week of recuperation at Hot Bikram Yoga with Robin on Monday night. As soon as I walked into the stank heated room, I knew this would not be the answer. Robin was determined to also get her groove back and said this is what we needed. After about 45 minutes, I could not help but talk and make fun of the class and the instructor. Of course I got in trouble, that type of stuff is not tolerated in Bikram Yoga. No tension or stress was relieved, but I was sweaty as hell. So no real relief from yoga.
Next I tried shopping. Bought 2 adorable pairs of shoes at Jildor. Very cute. One sought of a patent black leather mary jane style and the other a black suede booty. Love adding to my black shoe collection. Looking forward to wearing them, but still lack the groove I was looking for.
Next, I realized this adorable top that I recently purchased was ruined. Something must have spilled on it at my sister-in-laws 40th birthday party. I brought it to the dry cleaners, with no avail. So I decided to bring it back to the boutique I purchased it at. Figuring maybe they would give me a discount on another one. The snot ass woman, basically said it must be nail polish remover (huh?) and there was nothing she could do about it. Did she not know that I was going through a mid week crazed depression and if you were going to get in my way- I will bite your head off? Guess not- because whatever I said did not break her. So my crappy shirt and me left the store in a huff. This did not help my groove at all.
Thursday night resulted in a poor nights sleep, leaving me zombie like for Friday- Halloween. During a post trick or treating gathering at my friend Stacey’s house, I had to call it a night early; I just could not keep my eyes open any longer. But Saturday- that will be my savior- I was going to see Ja’maal in NYC and get my eyelash extensions. It was to be a glorious day and I would enjoy walking down 5th Ave, admiring all the beautiful things I could not afford to buy. I am sure my groove would appear on 5th Ave.
When waking on Saturday morning- I knew I did not feel right? Could it be what I ate at Stacey’s? Deciding to drive into the city- I made it to the Cross Island Parkway, when I had to pull over and puke my guts up. Sadly, I had to turn around and go home-canceling my appointment and returning to bed. I spent all of Saturday in bed, unable to even keep water down. I stayed in on a beautiful day. I watched most of 2 movies- American Gangster and Michael Clayton. Missed the last 20 minutes- so if anyone wants to share the end with me- feel free to contact me sherry@looselipsny.com . Spending some time in bed with George Clooney and Denzel Washington can never hurt. After sleeping most of the day, then last night and getting the extra hour of daylight savings time- I can actually say, “I feel better”.
I have my groove back and I am ready to start the week! Yeah! I am so glad.
Moral of the story- sometimes you just need to sleep a day away to make things better. And/ or spend some time with George Clooney.
Looking forward to better weeks-
Sherry B.
